Today was one of the proudest days I’ve ever experienced as mayor.
The Adult Literacy Course, which we started with 6 women, culminated in the graduation of 24 women today. The happiness in the eyes of each of our graduates was the greatest reward for us. Learning to read and write is not just about recognizing letters; it’s about gaining self-confidence, holding on to life more strongly, and being able to say, “I can do it too.” I wholeheartedly congratulate all the women who showed this courage.
For us, this is not just a graduation, but also the first step towards new beginnings. As long as there is demand, these courses will continue. Now, our new goal is a Digital Technology Usage Course that will connect our women more strongly with the digital world.
We believe that every woman empowered by education also empowers her family, her environment, and our future. We are proud of their success and I sincerely thank everyone who contributed, especially our valuable teacher Ece Apan.
