A Tribute to Loyalty and Sports in Çatalköy: Hüseyin Atanç Artificial Turf Pitch Opened

A meaningful event combining sports and a tribute to the past took place in Çatalköy. The day began with commemorations at the gravesites of Salih Yıldırım and Nusret Soyumert, continued with the opening of the Hüseyin Atanç Artificial Turf Pitch—constructed by the Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality and handed over to the Düzkaya Sports Club—and concluded with a memorial match.
As part of the program, the graves of Salih Yıldırım and Nusret Soyumert were visited at 16:00. Yıldırım and Soyumert were honored at a ceremony attended by their families, relatives, friends, and members of the sports community.
DISUSED PITCH REVITALIZED FOR YOUTH
Following the memorial ceremony, the Hüseyin Atanç Artificial Turf Pitch—which had long been in a state of disuse but was completed by the Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality and transferred to the Düzkaya Sports Club—was officially opened for use.
The opening ceremony was attended by Çatalköy-Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok, CTP MPs Fikri Toros and Sami Özuslu, representatives of the sports community, local residents, and invited guests.
KIROK: “OUR INVESTMENTS IN SPORTS AND OUR YOUTH WILL CONTINUE”
Speaking at the opening, Mayor Ceyhun Kırok stated that they attach great importance to increasing the number of spaces where young people can easily access sports activities. Kırok noted that revitalizing long-unused areas and making them available for public use is among the municipality’s priorities.
In the final part of the program, the Düzkaya Masters and Esentepe Masters teams took to the field for a match in memory of Salih Yıldırım and Nusret Soyumert. The day, which began with a commemoration ceremony, concluded with the opening of a sports facility—built by the Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality and handed over to the Düzkaya Sports Club for the benefit of the youth—followed by a commemorative match.
