The “Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality Sports Park,” implemented by the Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality to contribute to the social lives of children, was opened with a ceremony. Students from Çatalköy Primary School and Esentepe Primary School, school principals, teachers, and the children’s families attended the opening ceremony held in Çatalköy. Speaking at the opening, Mayor Ceyhun Kırok stated that the park project emerged approximately two years ago during discussions with families of children with special needs at an event held as part of Mother’s Day celebrations. Kırok explained that the families had requested a park where their children could spend time comfortably in a safe and enclosed space. He added that the families had expressed a need for a safe social area where their children could spend time, saying, “We aimed to create a safe social and educational activity area that would serve all children in our region and that could also be easily used by our children with special needs.” Stating that the project, which serves not only as a children’s park but also as a sports park, has received great interest, Kırok expressed his happiness at fulfilling the promise and wished that the children would enjoy the park for many years to come. Following him, Esentepe Primary School Principal Ahmet Özçaylı stated that in a time of increasing concrete construction, providing children with such an area surrounded by nature is important. Özçaylı said, “The opening of such a park in such a beautiful setting with mountain and sea views has made us and our children very happy.” Later, Çatalköy Primary School Principal Uğur Çınar stated that the region had long needed such a project and thanked the municipality for its contributions to education. Throughout the event, children were treated to ice cream, fruit juice, and water by the municipality. After the opening, the children had a great time in the park; playing table tennis, spending time on the swings, and enjoying themselves in the many play areas within the park.
