Çatalköy-Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok raised alarm about the increasing cancer cases in the region, warning, “A disaster is looming on the horizon.”

Çatalköy-Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok, in a statement posted on his social media account, warned, “A disaster is approaching unmistakably.”

Ceyhun Kırok said, “In just two days, we’ve lost two beloved elders—both to cancer. Yesterday, it was our brother Tolgay; today, our sister Ayşe. I don’t know what more it will take, but we’ve run out of patience to wait for action.”

At a recent press conference organized by the municipality, Kırok had highlighted the uncontrolled environmental and health damage caused by the Teknecik Power Plant. He also pointed out a concerning rise in cancer cases throughout the region.
