Green Cyprus, Once Again
Today, widespread tree planting events were held across the country as part of the “Re-Greening Cyprus” project, initiated by the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The project, implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Forestry Department, municipalities, Telsim, and Northern Cyprus Turkcell, saw significant participation. Municipalities also supported tree planting efforts in their respective regions. The events, organized to increase environmental sustainability, protect natural habitats, and create a lasting awareness of reforestation in society, attracted considerable interest from public institutions, schools, civil society organizations, private sector representatives, and citizens. Thousands of saplings were planted simultaneously across the country, greening parks, roadsides, schoolyards, and designated reforestation areas. Officials emphasized that the project is a long-term environmental investment and called on all citizens to support this environmental movement. The “Re-Greening Cyprus” project aims for a greener and more livable country, leaving a strong natural legacy for future generations.
