Çatalköy-Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok, in his message published on the occasion of July 11 Press Day, stated that the press plays an important role in informing the public and conveying the truth, and appreciated the dedicated work of journalists.

Kırok expressed that journalists being able to work in a free environment is a requirement of democracy, and noted that the press is an important balancing element for the healthy functioning of democracy. Ceyhun Kırok stated that a free press allows the voices of various segments of society to be heard.

Pointing out the importance of journalists continuing to use their pens in favor of democracy and human rights despite all kinds of difficulties they experience, Kırok noted that the public’s right to access accurate and unbiased information should be protected.

Kırok thanked the members of the press for their dedicated work.
