Our Goal is a More Effective, More Contemporary Local Government
Çatalköy-Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok represented his region at an international level by holding talks in Brussels with the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities delegation. After the panel held in the European Parliament, the delegation visited Bruges Municipality and received information on urban transportation, environmentally friendly municipalism and sustainable management models.
Speaking at the presentation at Bruges Municipality, Mayor Kırok said, “Our aim is to bring our region to international standards not only in terms of infrastructure but also in terms of governance and service quality.” Stating that good practices in Europe will guide Çatalköy-Esentepe, Kırok emphasized that the Brussels visits were an important step towards this goal.
Following their visits, the delegation also attended the Turkish Cuisine Week reception hosted by Faruk Kaymakcı, Turkey’s Permanent Representative to the EU. Mayor Kırok evaluated the Brussels visits as “an important experience for regional development.”
