A uniform inspection system in food establishments is mandatory for public health.
Mayor Kırok: “A uniform inspection system in food establishments is essential for public health.”
As part of the EU Project, the “Strengthening Public Health through Uniform Controls in Food Establishments – Roundtable Meeting” was held today at the Concorde Tower. Municipality representatives, relevant institutions, and industry stakeholders attended the meeting, held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on November 18, 2025.
Speaking at the meeting, Çatalköy-Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok emphasized the indispensability of a common inspection standard for food safety.
Kırok stated that the complex structure of the current inspection system negatively impacts both producers and consumers, and said:
“All stakeholders need to be able to perform the same inspections using a uniform form. Standardizing inspection processes from a single center will both protect public health and provide relief for producers.” Mayor Kırok emphasized the importance of strengthening local capacity and increasing coordination in food safety, saying:
“Our goal is to strengthen local capacity, ensure food safety, and protect public health. All stakeholders should come together to form a joint inspection system.”
Kırok noted that producers are complaining about the current chaos and emphasized that a joint inspection system will be one of the most important steps in the future.
