The foundation of the new building for Çatalköy Primary School was laid today with a ceremony
A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for the new school to be built with the contributions of Çatalköy – Esentepe Municipality and sponsors. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Fazilet Özdenefe, members of parliament, ministry officials, Çatalköy – Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok and municipal officials.
TATAR
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, President Ersin Tatar said that Çatalköy is one of the regions whose importance and value are increasing, noting that the new municipalities law has also increased the importance of the region. President Tatar emphasized that investments in education are important investments for the future. Tatar stated that there are efforts to educate children of foreigners who come to the TRNC for various reasons, adding that the education system in the country is advanced and developing gradually. Expressing that their greatest wish is to raise people who will provide important services to the country and humanity, Tatar said that they also trust the teachers and wished them to provide modern, universal education and follow developments. Tatar thanked the Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality and sponsors, as well as all sectors contributing to education.
ÇAVUŞOĞLU
Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu expressed his happiness to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, stating that today is a source of pride and hope for the people. Çavuşoğlu noted that they are going through a process due to population growth and insufficient investments in schools, adding that issues such as overcrowded schools, foreign students, and earthquake resistance of school buildings are on their agenda. Çavuşoğlu said that more than 20 schools have been built with the contributions of philanthropists and the state through campaigns where the TRNC budget was insufficient, noting that more schools have been built in the last few years than in history. Çavuşoğlu stated that their goal is to strengthen buildings against earthquakes rather than demolishing them, and that there are also efforts to address overcrowded classrooms. Çavuşoğlu expressed that building a secondary school and high school in the region is also on their agenda, and that they will look for land. Çavuşoğlu called for support for school construction campaigns and thanked everyone who contributed.

Çatalköy – Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok said that they gathered today to fulfill one of the promises he made during his election process, and that the foundations were laid for the new building of Çatalköy Primary School. Expressing that a path was taken with the support of businesspeople as well as the municipality’s resources for the new building, Kırok stated that the primary school building was planned to meet the needs of students, and that they aim to create laboratories, classrooms, and playgrounds. Kırok said that foundations will soon be laid for the pre-school 4-year-old classes that are lacking in the region, and noted that there is also a need for a secondary school and high school in Esentepe, and that they will start looking for land in Çatalköy for this need. Kırok thanked everyone who contributed to the new building.
