Arslan Bıçaklı: The cause of the energy crisis is lack of investment and neglect

Türk-Sen President Arslan Bıçaklı, in his speech at the protest organized by EL-SEN at the Teknecik Power Plant, said that the cause of the energy crisis was lack of investment and neglect.

The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees Union (EL-SEN) made a press statement in front of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Teknecik Power Plant.

EL-SEN stated that they will continue to protect Kıb-Tek, which belongs to the public, until the end, emphasizing that the definitive solution for Kıb-Tek is good management and an autonomous structure.

EL-SEN stated that they will continue to protect Kıb-Tek, which is public property, to the end, emphasizing that the definitive solution for Kıb-Tek is good management and an autonomous structure.

During the press statement at the entrance of Teknecik Power Plant, banners were displayed with slogans such as “No to AKSA”, “We won’t allow Kıb-Tek to be exploited” and “Government Resign”. The Main Opposition CTP Leader Tufan Erhürman, TDP Leader Zeki Çeler, Kyrenia Mayor Murat Şenkul, Çatalköy – Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok, some members of parliament, union representatives, and civil society organization representatives were also present in front of the Teknecik Power Plant during the statement.

Before the press statement, where the police took extensive security measures, a comparison was made between the fuel that should be used at Kıb-Tek and the fuel currently being used, which is alleged to cause black smoke. It was noted that the fuel that should be used is fluid, while the currently used fuel is solid like tar, causing black smoke.

Türk-Sen President Arslan Bıçaklı also argued that the unions have been struggling to prevent these days from happening and have been making demands and statements like “buy clean fuel, make the necessary investments”, but no one listened to them.

Bıçaklı, who said that this point has been reached today due to lack of investment, criticized the government and Kıb-Tek management,

Bıçaklı pointed out that while tar-like fuel is being used, there are claims of sabotage, emphasizing that it’s time to show respect to the public.

Arslan Bıçaklı stated that they have maintained a dignified stance towards the public during this process, but if it repeats, the responsibility will not be theirs. He emphasized that Kıb-Tek is public property and congratulated the El-Sen employees who protect the public’s property.

AHMET TUĞCU: KIB-TEK IS PUBLIC PROPERTY

EL-SEN President Ahmet Tuğcu, starting his speech by saying “Kıb-Tek is public property”, thanked everyone who supported EL-SEN’s struggle. Tuğcu said they will protect Kıb-Tek together with the public.

Expressing that they are here for the future of Kıb-Tek, Tuğcu pointed out that the management accused them of sabotage to cover up their own mistakes, but later announced the investment promise they had been talking about for years.

Tuğcu, who said they will follow up on the new investment promise, stated that necessary investments are essential for fixing malfunctions and strengthening Teknecik.

Pointing out the importance of the decision to invest in line with the union’s demands, Tuğcu said, “Because truths cannot be erased by mud thrown at workers.”

Tuğcu indicated that this black smoke won’t be cleaned without operating the machines with clean fuel, and noted that the definitive solution is autonomy.

Expressing that they will continue to struggle to reach the absolute goal, Tuğcu said that the end of Kıb-Tek will not be like KTHY.

Tuğcu also called on the press to inform the public correctly.

AYSAL: WE WILL CONTINUE TO PROTECT THE INSTITUTION

KTMMOB President Seran Aysal also thanked everyone who protects the core values of the Turkish Cypriot people, explained the work they have done as a chamber, but said that none of these have been implemented at the point we’ve reached.

Emphasizing the importance of protecting and developing institutions, Aysal stressed that as a chamber, they will continue to protect the institution and continue their struggle.
