“Vounous, Northern Cyprus’s Gateway to the World”
The Vounous International Terracotta Symposium, hosted by the Çatalköy–Esentepe Municipality, is bringing together artists from around the world and Cyprus once again this year.
Mayor Ceyhun Kırok hosted guests from abroad in his office and provided information about upcoming art events in the region. The visit emphasized the importance of international cooperation and cultural interaction.
Artists from Around the World and Cyprus Visit Vounous
The symposium is attended by 20 international artists from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as Turkey, Sweden, Italy, France, Russia, and the USA, and 50 local artists, academics, and ceramics enthusiasts.
The international gathering aims to introduce Cyprus’s deep-rooted cultural heritage to the world and emphasize the universal power of art. “Vounous on the Path to Becoming a Global Brand”
Mayor Ceyhun Kırok expressed the importance of the symposium with these words:
“The Vounous International Terracotta Symposium has become a brand that promotes the cultural identity of not only our region but also our country to the world. The meeting of local artists with artists from different countries will make a significant contribution to the history, culture, and art of Cyprus.”
“We Aim for a Permanent Space for 365 Days of Exhibition”
Kırok also highlighted the symposium’s international recognition, stating:
“The Vounous International Terracotta Symposium is Northern Cyprus’s gateway to the world. World-renowned figures are here. Now the whole world knows and recognizes that Cyprus has such a place. One of my goals is to create a permanent space where imitations of works from that period, produced here, can be exhibited 365 days a year.” The opening will be on September 14th.
Mayor Kırok extended a special invitation to art lovers, saying:
“I invite our art lovers and all of us to the workshops, which will take place from September 1st to 16th, and especially to the exhibition and opening ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, September 14th, at 7:00 PM. Let’s experience art and culture together in the captivating atmosphere of Vounous.”
The Çatalköy–Esentepe Municipality expressed its pride in bringing the unifying power of culture and art to the region and invited all residents to participate in this special international gathering.
