English: Ceyhun Kırok, Mayor of Çatalköy Esentepe Municipality, drew attention to the environmental disaster in the region. Kırok stated that uncontrolled debris dumping, which has been ongoing for years, has been destroying nature. Kırok expressed that he had made numerous written applications to the authorities regarding where to dump soil from construction excavations, emphasizing that with the newly started hotel projects, the disposal of 30,000 truckloads of soil has become a major problem. Kırok mentioned that he suggested reforesting and utilizing unproductive forest lands but received no positive response. He said that excavation permits in the region are given as a mere formality, and to solve the problem, either basement excavations should not be allowed or areas where the soil can be utilized should be designated. Mayor Kırok underlined that a definitive solution to this problem must now be found.
